Constipation

In simple terms, constipation is a condition pertaining to digestive system wherein an individual has hard feces that are difficult to expel from the body. In most cases, this problem occurs due to:

Excess absorption of water by colon

Slow movement of food through digestive tract

However, there can be multiple other reasons too, including but not limited to bacterial activities, improper diet, inactivity, metabolic issues, and some medications.

Any reason causing digested food to move slow, get dry or become obstructed in digestive tract lead to constipation, resulting in a painful and difficult defecation.

Ayurveda classifies constipation under Vata (that governs movement and elimination in the body) disorder. When Vata's dry and cold qualities cause disturbance in colon, it interferes with the normal functioning of digestive system.

Few habits which can help avoid constipation are :

  • Drinking warm water
  • Increasing the intake of organic oils
  • Eating a bowl full of green veggies and seasonal fruits
  • Increasing fluid intake

Udar Arogya is an ayurvedic medicine for constipation that treats the problem permanently by eliminating its root cause. It contains 2 major ingredients 'kasaundi' and 'chitrakamool' that promotes lubrication and release of accumulated feces.
